“The State of Charitable Giving Today,” Robert Sharpe

Nonprofit financial development consultant Robert Sharpe will give a Clinton School lecture titled “The State of Charitable Giving Today,” about the impact of the current economic climate on charitable giving in America. A fundraising consultant to charities across the country, Sharpe recently published an article in the Chronicle of Philanthropy arguing against efforts to remove the widely used charitable tax deduction from IRS code. He also recently wrote a piece titled “The Philanthropic Meltdown” about the effects of the Great Recession and it’s aftermath on charitable giving in the country. Sharpe is president of the Sharpe Group, a leader in the field of nonprofit financial development with more than 30 years of nonprofit fund development and consulting experience.
