Freddye Webb Petett
Freddye Petett is an Assistant Professor of Leadership and Philanthropy at the Clinton School. She retired from the
W.K. Kellogg Foundation in 2005, having held several positions during her 14 years there⦠most recently as coordinator of the Mid
South Delta Initiative, providing leadership and economic program coordination in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
Prior to that, Ms. Petett directed the Kellogg International Leadership Program, working with grantees in Southern Africa,
Latin America, and the United States. She joined the Foundation in 1990 as an associate director for the Leadership programming
area. She also provided leadership for Kellogg’s strategic planning and leadership grant making.
Before joining the Foundation, Ms. Petett was administrator of Oregon’s Adult and Family Services Department,
managing 2600 employees in 50 offices. During her public service career she has served in a number of other positions: Assistant to
the Mayor of Portland, OR: executive director, Urban League of Portland; Director, Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle; Board Chair,
Housing Authority of Portland; and management consultant to community-based organizations, state and local governments.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Portland State University, and has carried out doctoral
studies in Sociology at the Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio.
