The Beginning of the Bill Clark Wetlands Project

– Little Rock officials including City Director Dean Kumpuris, Little Rock Public Works operating manager Eric Petty, Little Rock Parks deputy director Mark Webre and landscape architect Martin Smith will announce the construction timetable and design plans for the wetlands project on the grounds of the Clinton Center.
Bob Wise, president, Alliance for Excellent Education

– The former governor of West Virginia, Wise leads the Alliance for Excellent Education, which advocates for at-risk middle and high school students by promoting increased education funding and high school reform.
Wes Moore, author of “The Other Wes Moore”

– Moore will discuss his book about himself and another boy also named Wes Moore from his inner city Baltimore neighborhood. The author became the first African-American Rhodes Scholar ever from Johns Hopkins University while the other Wes Moore served a life sentence in prison.
Brent Scowcroft, former U.S. National Security Advisor

– Scowcroft served as National Security Advisory under both President Gerald Ford and President George H. W. Bush. He served 29 years in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of Lieutenant General. A leading expert on international policy, he currently heads the Scowcroft Group, an international consulting firm.
Little Rock Film Festival Schedule Announcement

– The Little Rock Film Festival, directed by Clinton School student Jack Lofton, will announce the schedule for its 2010 festival set for June 2-6.
Luis Valdivieso, Peru’s ambassador to the United States
Monday, May 17, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. (Sturgis Hall)
– Valdivieso became ambassador to the United States in February 2009 after serving as the minister of economy and finance for Peru. At the Clinton School, the ambassador will give a lecture about the relationship between Peru and the United States.
Hank Courtwright, senior vice president, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. (Sturgis Hall)
– Courtwright will discuss EPRI’s Prism and MERGE analyses, which provide a technically and economically feasible road map for the electricity sector as it seeks to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions over the next few decades. This program is presented in partnership with the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
