Carder Profiled in Hometown Paper

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Recent Clinton School graduate Casey Carder of Searcy, Ark., was featured yesterday in a profile piece in the Searcy Daily Citizen. In the story, Carder discusses the three public service projects–group, international and individual–that she completed while at the Clinton School. After completing her group Practicum project working with the Hughes School District to address issues related to No Child Left Behind, Carder traveled to New Zealand where she worked on children’s health issues. In an interview with the Daily Citizen, she described her work with the native Maori people:

“Everybody lives 10 miles from the beach, and everybody’s relaxed,” Carder said. “I laid the groundwork for a bibliotherapy project, which uses books for therapy for children with disease. Prevention measures were emphasized to give them a common vocabulary. Basically, their issues are obesity and heart health, so we wanted to get kids talking about that early on.”
