Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – As expected, Michael Beschloss gave an engaging, sometimes funny and very insightful talk at the Clinton School on Monday. Beschloss referenced presidents from Washington to Clinton in a talk about his latest book, “Presidential Courage: Brave Leaders and How They Changed America 1789-1989.” He discussed unpopular, but profound decisions made by several presidents that cost them support, reelection or even life in the case of Abraham Lincoln.
But perhaps his most interesting comments came during the Q&A portion when UALR’s own resident historian, Johanna Miller Lewis, asked about President Eisenhower’s decision to send troops to Little Rock in 1957 to usher in the integration of Central High School.
