Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – The French ambassador to the United States said Monday in a Clinton School speech that his government always looks for peaceful solutions to global problems.
Urging support for the United Nations, Ambassador Pierre Vimont said cooperative diplomacy is the best approach in a world that grows more interdependent each day.
“As long as you can try to find a peaceful solution, try it,” Vimont said. “You need first of all to through the whole peaceful negotiation process in order to find a solution.”
The rise of globalization has only heightened the need for a cooperative approach to international relations, Vimont said.
“The reality today is you can’t do it on your own,” Vimont said. “You can’t act on your own and hope to bring solutions to challenges that are so complex and intertwined as they are today.”
