800 Turn Out for Maddow

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, host of “The Rachel Maddow Show,” discussed health care reform, politics and other topics Monday as part of the Clinton School Speaker Series.

More than 800 people came to the Statehouse Convention Center to hear Maddow, who participated in an informal Q&A with Clinton School public programs director Nikolai DiPippa.

Topics included her upbringing in suburban California, her academic studies in Oxford and her transition from radio to becoming America’s first openly gay cable news host.

Maddow also discussed her show, which features her take on the biggest stories of the day – political and otherwise – including lively debate and interviews with guests from all sides of the issues.

Launched in 2008, the critically acclaimed show boasts the most successful start in MSNBC history, immediately boosting network ratings.

She had the audience laughing throughout the morning with quips about Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin and Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln.
