An Exhibit Worth Seeing

Posted by DEAN SKIP RUTHERFORD – They call it “The White House in Miniature,” but it’s really much more than that. A scaled replica of the White House is now on display in the Garden View Room at the Clinton Presidential Center. It features exactly how the White House looks today during the George W. Bush Administration. While each President and First Lady often make decorating changes, many of the rooms stay the same and much of it looks very familiar to the former Clinton White House staffers who worked there.

I”ve known my friend Bruce Lindsey, (now the CEO of the Clinton Foundation and formerly President Clinton’s Deputy White House Legal Counsel) for 30 years. Bruce doesn’t like to give speeches or interviews though in the 30 years I’ve known him, I’ve talked him into a few. For example, we once did a program together for a course on the Clinton Presidency at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He also visits regularly with our Clinton School students.

But at an advance preview of “The White House in Miniature,” I saw him giving a room by room White House tour, answering questions and sharing stories with an unparalled command of facts, trivia and information. He literally had an entire group of people spellbound.

The exhibit is certainly worth seeing. And when you go see it, ask the volunteers and the people at the front desk if Bruce Lindsey is in the building.
