The Clinton School is now accepting applications for its Fall 2011 class. Aspiring public servants are invited to apply to the school’s unique Master of Public Service (MPS) degree program, said Skip Rutherford, dean of the school.
“If you are looking for a program that not only provides outstanding instruction, but also one that gives you a chance to put your talents into action through domestic and international field service projects, we encourage you to consider applying to the Clinton School,” Rutherford said.
The first school to offer the MPS degree, the Clinton School’s full-time, two-year program provides instruction through core courses in the areas of leadership, communication, decision-making, ethics and social change.
Students also apply lessons learned in the classroom to three public service projects completed in the school’s unique field service program. Clinton School students have completed more than 120 international public service projects in 47 countries on six continents.
Clinton School students come from a variety of backgrounds, with public service experiences ranging from service in Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Teach for America and the military, to work in government, politics, business and the nonprofit sector.
Students also benefit from participating in the school’s renowned public lecture series, which features leaders in government, politics, foreign policy, journalism and philanthropy.
Through the school’s core curriculum, field service projects and a wide array of elective offerings, students are able to tailor their Clinton School experience to fit their public service interests, said Alex Thomas, director of admissions at the school.
“We welcome students of many different public service interest areas,” Thomas said. “If you want to gain new skills and experiences to prepare for a career in public service, we hope you’ll consider the Clinton School.”
