Body of War

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Award-winning journalist and filmmaker Phil Donahue screened his powerful Iraq War documentary, “Body of War,” on Friday night at the Clinton School in conjunction with the Little Rock Film Festival.

A large crowd was on hand for the screening, which was followed by a Q&A with Donahue moderated by Dean Skip Rutherford. Donahue said he decided to make the film after visiting Walter Reed Hospital and meeting wounded Iraq War veteran Tomas Young, who is the central character of the movie. Donahue shows Young’s transformation from a paralyzed guardsman who took a bullet to his spine, to an outspoken opponent of the Bush Administration’s handling of the war.

The film was recognized by the National Board of Review as best documentary of 2007, a prestigous award given to hit films such as “An Inconvenient Truth” and “March of the Penguins.”
