The Center on Community Philanthropy at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service has announced Dr. William Bell, President and CEO of Casey Family Programs, as its Spring 2018 Scholar in Residence. Due to his exemplary contributions in the field of community philanthropy and human services, Dr. Bell was selected to spend one week to write, share, and explore the impact of community philanthropy in creating social change. In addition, Dr. Bell will interact with Clinton School faculty, staff and students; representatives from local foundations and nonprofits; and community members.
Bell has more than 35 years of experience in the human services field. Before becoming President and CEO of Casey Family Programs, he served as the foundation’s executive vice president for Child and Family Services, providing strategic direction to nine field offices and leading a staff working directly with young people from the public child welfare system.
“Dr. Bell bring an array of knowledge and passion to the human service and philanthropic sector” said Dr. Charlotte Williams, Associate Professor and Director of the Center on Community Philanthropy. “We are excited to hear from Dr. William Bell on how he is leveraging community philanthropy within sector to bring forth social change.”
Bell is a member of the board of Philanthropy Northwest, Delta State University Foundation and the Campaign for Black Male Achievement. He serves on the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association board of trustees, and he is a member of the advisory board of the Racial Equity and Leadership Institute.
The Scholar in Residence program, established in 2009, is extended to researchers, practitioners and senior executives who have demonstrated exemplary contributions in the field of community philanthropy. During Bell’s residencies, he will write an essay on community philanthropy, interact with students, faculty, and the wider community.
