Katie Clark (’20) has joined the Arkansas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ARAAP) as a Program Coordinator.
In her new role, Clark will be responsible for completing grant-required deliverables, community outreach, and educational opportunities for pediatricians and other stakeholders. She will also support ARAAP member-driven work including advocacy, communication, and member engagement.
Clark will be working with fellow Clinton School graduates Anna Strong (‘11), who serves as Executive Director, and Dr. Gary Wheeler (‘07), who serves on the executive committee.
In addition to her Master of Public Service, Clark earned a concurrent Master of Public Health through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
“I think my education will play a huge role in this position,” Clark said. “The knowledge I gained at UAMS about healthcare systems, health disparities, health law and policy, and the importance of health education and literacy will be incredibly beneficial.”
Clark’s Clinton School field service work included compiling a database of mental health resources such as healthcare providers, mental health promotion materials, and educational opportunities for FAITH Network, a collaboration of UAMS and faith organizations in Arkansas. She completed a comprehensive evaluation project with Fraser Health’s Department of Evaluation and Research Services. Her Capstone project focused on the racial disparities between Black and white women during their prenatal experiences.
“The Clinton School and my various field service projects have prepared me to conduct needs assessments and evaluations, create program plans, and create referral systems,” Clark said. “Both programs have also instilled in me a passion for serving others and improving the health of communities.”
