Clinton School Impact Minute: Phoenix Youth and Family Services

Starting in the fall of 2017, a team of students from the Clinton School of Public Service partnered with Phoenix Youth and Family Services to assess the resources and gaps in services available within Desha County, Arkansas.

Phoenix’s mission is to empower young people in the Arkansas Delta who face systemic inequities in resource access. This includes providing and connecting them with a variety of necessary resources, including life skills, parenting classes, transportation, health care, and more.

The team of Clinton School students completed an organizational needs assessment, and compiled their findings into a resource manual.

The manual has since been used by Phoenix Youth and Family Services to direct clients to appropriate services, and was used to develop an online resource map.

The map allows anyone to visit Phoenix’s website, search for a service that they need, and receive a list of services with contact and important information sorted by geographic location.

The Clinton School Impact Minute is a recurring segment with Little Rock Public Radio, highlighting the Clinton School’s field service impact in.

Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed nearly 700 field service projects with more than 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
