Dean Victoria DeFrancesco and Dr. Nichola Driver, Executive Director for the Office of Field Service, will present at Teaching Community and Civic Engagement in Arkansas, a conference hosted by the Arkansas Engaged Learning Network.
The conference will be held on Thursday, May 23 at the UCA Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center. Registration is available online.
The conference is open to higher education faculty, staff, administrators, student leaders, K-12 education leaders, and community partners committed to providing students with community-engaged learning opportunities.
The conference and its events will provide opportunities to learn about best practices, exchange project and partnership examples, and discuss emerging issues in community-engaged learning and civic engagement in Arkansas.
Director of Domestic Programs, Rachel Norris, serves on the planning committee.
The Clinton School’s presentation is “Best Practices for Creating Community Partnerships: Lessons from the Clinton School of Public Service.”
The presentation will include:
- The vision of the Clinton School of Public Service
- The six guiding principles of the Office of Field Service – shared power, reciprocal benefit, empowerment, sustainability, community-grounded, and collaboration
- Specific strategies used to by the Office of Field Service to create meaningful and reciprocal service relationships (i.e. best practices)
- Perceptions from community partners on the impact of Clinton School field service projects
- Perceptions from students on the impact of Clinton School field service projects
In addition to the Clinton School, presentations will be delivered by:
