Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Clinton School’s 2020 Commencement Ceremony is being presented entirely online.
Below, you will find videos in place of many of the school’s noteworthy graduation events, including remarks from Dean James L. “Skip” Rutherford III, faculty and student speakers from each class, and the Clinton School Alumni Board. The Student Awards Presentation recognizes six award winners from the MPS and EMPS degree programs.

Dean’s Welcome
Clinton School Dean James L. “Skip” Rutherford III delivers his message to the Class of 2020. A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Rutherford received the Journalism Department’s first Distinguished Alumnus Award. From 1997 until it opened in 2004, Rutherford supervised the planning and construction of the Clinton Presidential Center and Park.
Student Awards Presentation
Dean James L. “Skip” Rutherford III and Academic Dean Susan Hoffpauir announce the award recipients from the Class of 2020. The honors include an EMPS and MPS Academic Award, the Dr. Tom Bruce International Student Prize, the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, the Public Service Award, and the Shannon Butler Bridge Builder Award.
EMPS Faculty Speaker: Chul Hyun Park
Dr. Chul Hyun Park, Assistant Professor at the Clinton School of Public Service, was selected as this year’s EMPS faculty speaker. Park was integral in the development of the EMPS degree program. He teaches Field Research Methods, Data Analysis, and Program Evaluation.
MPS Faculty Speaker: Nichola Driver
Dr. Nichola Driver, Faculty Director for the Office of Community Engagement and Assistant Professor at the Clinton School of Public Service, was selected as this year’s MPS faculty speaker. Driver teaches Field Research Methods and Program Evaluation.
EMPS Student Speaker: Renee Tyler
Renee Tyler of Dubuque, Iowa, was selected as this year’s EMPS student speaker. Tyler is the Director of Transportation Services for the City of Dubuque and a member of the American Public Works Association Committee for Diversity and Inclusion.
MPS Student Speaker: Alex Tingquist
Alex Tingquist of Little Rock, Ark., was selected as this year’s MPS student speaker. Tingquist is an AmeriCorps alum who is completing his Capstone project with the Jericho Way Day Resource Center in Little Rock.

As part of the Clinton School’s commitment to public service, the school will collect gift cards and checks for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas provides a “home away from home” for families of sick children being treated at area hospitals and serves the needs of children through its three core programs.
Please consider gift cards from Walmart or Target. Donations in the form of a check are also welcome.
