– A native of Nairobi, Kenya, Mungai works for Microsoft and paints in her spare time to raise money for schools in rural Kenya. She will discuss her use of art for philanthropy in a lecture titled “The Philanthropy in All of Us.”
“Death to the BCS: The Definitive Case Against the Bowl Championship Series,” co-author Jeff Passan
Monday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. (Sturgis Hall)
– On the day after the final 2011 Bowl Championship Series college football standings are released, Passan will discuss his book, “Death to the BCS,” which argues for a college football playoff over the current system. A columnist for Yahoo! Sports, Passan co-authored the book with fellow Yahoo! writers Dan Wetzel and Josh Peter.
Patrick Woodyard, founder of Nisolo Shoes
Tuesday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. (Sturgis Hall)
– Woodyard, age 25, founded Nisolo Shoes earlier this year to help small-scale shoemakers in Northern Peru sell their products to a larger market. At the Clinton School, he will discuss how businesses, NGOs and non-profits can make long-term, sustainable and transformation impacts on impoverished communities.
