Energy Usage Remains Low at Sturgis Hall

Energy usage at Sturgis Hall continues to be reduced following the completion of a $270,000 energy retrofit project. The chart above shows month-to-month comparisons of energy usage since the project was completed in last year.

The building is currently in the monitoring phase of a certification process to earn LEED status for maintenance and operations.

If approved the facility would be the oldest college building in the world to earn such a designation.

The project included installing new HVAC and lighting controls and additional attic insulation, among other measures, to increase energy efficiency. Low-flow toilets and motion sensor faucets were installed in bathrooms to decrease water usage.
