Field Service Conference Underway

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – More than 100 representatives from nonprofit organizations, communities and other institutions are meeting today with Clinton School students, faculty and staff to learn more about our use of “field service learning,” in the Master of Public Service degree program.

Clinton School students complete three “hands-on” projects in which they partner with communities and organizations to practice public service. The Practicum (group) project sends student teams throughout Arkansas to work in the areas of economic development, health care, environmental awareness or education. The International Public Service Project sends the students throughout the world to work in similar arenas. And the Capstone (final) project gives students the opportunity to create a project in an area that most interests them.

Today’s conference will give attendees the chance to learn more about this model and the work that our students do. It will also provide them with an introduction to the partnership process that could lead the way for future projects for Clinton School students.
