The National Black Caucus of State Legislators has named Arkansas state Rep. Vivian Flowers (‘07) its Legislator of the Year.
Flowers was honored during the organization’s annual Legislative Conference held Nov. 30-Dec. 5. Additionally, she was elected the organization’s national secretary.
She has served as chair of the organization’s COVID-19 Working Group, which addresses the impact of COVID-19 on minority populations.
For the 92nd General Assembly, Flowers serves on the Joint Committee for Advanced Communications and Information Technology, the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee, the House Public Transportation Committee, and the House Agriculture, Forestry & Economic Development Committee.
In addition to her Master of Public Service, she earned a degree in political science and professional and technical writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
