Vivian Flowers (’07) was recently presented with the Distinguished Legislative Award by representatives of the Arkansas Municipal League, recognizing her exemplary service to benefit cities and towns of Arkansas during the 93rd General Assembly.
Rep. Flowers was recognized along with Rep. Kenneth Ferguson at the Pine Bluff City Council meeting in late July. Jack Critcher, former state legislator, and John Wilkerson, General Counsel for the Arkansas Municipal League, presented Flowers and Ferguson with plaques.
The honor was for those who demonstrated exemplary service that benefited cities and towns of Arkansas during the 93rd General Assembly. Former state legislator Jack Critcher and John Wilkerson of the Arkansas Municipal League presented the representatives with plaques.
Wilkerson told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that Flowers is an avid supporter of local control and that she continues to contribute ideas to bills even after they have passed.
Flowers is serving her fourth term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. District 17 encompasses a portion of Jefferson County. She serves on the Joint Committee for Advanced Communications and Information Technology, the Joint Budget Committee, House Insurance, and Commerce Committee, and the House Judiciary Committee.
In addition to her Master of Public Service, Flowers earned a degree in political science and professional and technical writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
