Gore Gives Lecture, Visits with Clinton School Students

Former Vice President Al Gore visited the Clinton Presidential Center on Monday to speak in the Frank and Kula Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture series, sponsored by the Clinton School, Clinton Foundation and AT&T.

After conducting an hour-long private session with Clinton School students, Gore spoke publicly about his book, “THE FUTURE: Six Drivers of Global Change,” which offers an assessment of major issues that will shape the next several decades across the world.

Gore discussed how the United States can continue to be the world’s leader in economic development by embracing new innovations.

“You’ll find people in almost every country looking to the U.S. as the model for, you know, the way they’d like to be,” Gore said.

Gore was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976, 1980 and 1982 and the U.S. Senate in 1984 and 1990. He was inaugurated as the forty-fifth Vice President of the United States on January 20, 1993, and served eight years. During the Administration, Gore was a central member of President Clinton’s economic team.

He served as President of the Senate, a Cabinet member, a member of the National Security Council and as the leader of a wide range of Administration initiatives. He is co-founder and chairman of Generation Investment Management, a partnership focused on a new approach to sustainable investing. He spends the majority of his time as chairman of The Climate Reality Project, a non-profit focused on solutions to the climate crisis.
