ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Honeycomb Restaurant and Bakery, following up on an idea from students at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock, will offer a special 2012 election day menu.
On Tuesday, November 6, the Honeycomb will feature a menu inspired by the presidential candidates’ favorite dishes, including Governor Mitt Romney’s meatloaf cakes and Ann Romney’s oatmeal peanut butter M&M cookies, as well as President and Mrs. Obama’s favorite chili recipe and Michelle Obama’s white and dark chocolate chip cookies.
The items, along with the Honeycomb’s regular menu, will be served during the restaurant’s business hours from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In addition, Ann Romney’s cookies and Michelle Obama’s cookies will be available for purchase from the bakery associated with the restaurant.
Honeycomb Restaurant and Bakery, located at 705 Main Street in downtown Arkadelphia, currently employs 15 individuals with developmental disabilities. The restaurant’s mission is to help those individuals achieve their highest level of independence in the community. The restaurant is part of Group Living, Inc., a non-profit organization providing normalization skills and living assistance to adults with developmental disabilities.
During the 2012-13 school year, a team of Clinton School students is working with the Honeycomb staff to develop a local, state and national marketing plan.
“In addition to some of the best food I’ve ever tasted, the Honeycomb Restaurant diminishes prejudices associated with people living with developmental disabilities through exposure and communication,” said Clinton School student Nicholas Provencher of Calais, Maine.
