Logan Hunt (’20) is working for the Arkansas Center for Data Sciences as a Project Coordinator for the organization’s state-wide ReSkill Arkansas program.
The ReSkill Arkansas program is focused on providing free training for Arkansans who are unemployed or underemployed due to COVID-19, with the goal of training them in fields that are in higher demand. The program is delivered in partnership with the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Office of Skills Development, a division within the Arkansas Department of Commerce.
“Currently, we offer courses focused on getting Arkansans in the field of IT (information technology),” Hunt said. “Additionally, we are in the process of creating a new branch of the program to provide training in the field of advanced manufacturing. I was brought on to oversee the current IT part of the program, as well as to oversee the development and implementation of the advanced manufacturing side of the program.”
Hunt was initially connected with ReSkill Arkansas by classmate Justin Murdock. Murdock’s work with Boost Midwest, helps provide support to the mission of ReSkill Arkansas.
As part of Hunt’s International Public Service Project at the Clinton School, he worked with Arthik Samata Mandal in Vijayawada, India to evaluate a program that focused on training individuals who were unemployed due to physical disability or natural disaster.
“This gave me invaluable experience with economic advancement initiatives and how they operate on a large scale,” Hunt said, “including how to identify potential candidates and match them with the industry that best suits them.”
Hunt also completed field service projects with Our House Shelter and the White River Women’s Shelter, where he worked full-time following the completion of his project.
“The hands-on work that I did in the field service projects allowed me to develop both hard and soft skills that I would not have gained from classroom work alone,” he said.
A native of Newport, Ark., Hunt is a graduate of Lyon College with degrees in history and religion and philosophy.
