Iowa Election Day Predictions

Posted by DEAN SKIP RUTHERFORD – Before any election, friends and colleagues gather to discuss the possible outcomes. I’ve listed some of the predictions that I have heard.

Charlotte Lewellen-Williams, Director, Clinton School Center on Community Philanthropy – Republican: Huckabee; Democrat: Clinton.

Professor Steve Aday, Little Rock Catholic High School – Democrat: Clinton; Republican: Huckabee.

State Representative Steve Harrelson (D-Ark) and producer of “Under the Dome” blog –Republicans (in order): Huckabee, Romney, Paul, McCain, Thompson and Giuliani; Democrats (in order): Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Richardson, Biden and Dodd.

State Representative Dan Greenberg (R-Ark) – Democrat: Clinton; Republican: Huckabee. He adds: “But the winners from Iowa will be Edwards and McCain, each of whom will sharply exceed expectations. Conversely, the biggest loser in this respect will be Obama.”

Clinton School student and UCLA graduate Ryan Lewis – Republican: Huckabee (“a stronger personal connection with Iowa voters”); Democrat: Obama (“a nail-biter but I think he will edge out Clinton and Edwards”).

Clinton School student and Harvard graduate Geoff Kearney – Democrat: Clinton; Republican: Huckabee.

Carol Allen, Arkansas weather guru – Republican: Giuliani; Democrat: Clinton.

Cyrus Bahrassa, Little Rock Central High School Student Body President – Democrats: Obama 28%; Clinton 27% and Edwards 24%; Republicans: Huckabee 30%; Romney 28%; McCain 14% and Paul 10%.

David Alsobrook, director of the Museum of Mobile (Ala) – Republican: Romney; Democrat: Obama.

Jim Dailey, former Little Rock Mayor – Democrat: Clinton; Republican: Huckabee.
