Posted by student JAMES MITCHELL- I met Brigette Hutchison at th Dhaba Joy coffee shop off of campus today. Hutchison is a lighting technician in Austin and an undecided voter. When asked about the election she told me, “I’m just really disappointed from the last election. Just disillusioned, you know. I definitely would like either of the Democrats over what we’ve got right now.”
Hutchison believes that Obama will carry Texas, but that Hillary “still definitely has a chance.” During the course of conversation she raised a point regarding the debate format itself: “It seems like nobody can get in but the press. It’s really kind of low-key.” A number of Texas Democrats have voiced complaints about the fact that only 100 public tickets have been released for the debate.
James Mitchell is a Clinton School student covering the Democratic presidential debate in Austin, Texas.
