Montalvo Selected for AEA Graduate Education Diversity Internship

Daniela Montalvo, a second-year student at the Clinton School of Public Service, has been selected for the Graduate Education Diversity Internship by the American Evaluation Association.

The GEDI Intern Program provides paid internship and training opportunities during the academic year, and works to engage and support students from groups traditionally under-represented in the field of evaluation.

Montalvo will partner with the Education Development Center, a global nonprofit with the mission to improve education, promote health, and expand economic opportunity across the United States and in more than 80 other countries.

GEDI Interns come from a variety of disciplines including public health, education, political science, anthropology, psychology, sociology, social work, and the natural sciences. The interns’ commonality is a strong background in research skills, an interest in extending their capacities to the field of evaluation, and a commitment to thinking deeply about culturally responsive evaluation practice.

Montalvo recently completed her International Public Service Project in Paris, France, with UNESCO’s Inclusion, Rights and Intercultural Dialogue Section. She conducted research for the Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination and assisted in the conceptual and logistical preparations for the year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Routes of Enslaved Peoples Project.

As a first-year Clinton School student, Montalvo was part of a Practicum team that partnered with Keep Arkansas Beautiful to gather an understanding of Arkansans’ perception and understanding of litter, including what resources are needed to combat it.

A native of Quito, Ecuador, Montalvo earned her degree in international relations from Universidad San Francisco de Quito. She is a Clinton Global Initiative University alum and mentor, and has volunteered with Hogar Para Sus Niños.
