Derrick Rainey, a 2012 graduate of the Clinton School of Public Service, has been elected mayor of Wrightsville, Ark.
Rainey defeated incumbent Allan Clarence Loring, who was elected mayor in 2018, in a runoff election on Tuesday, December 6.
“It is a blessing and honor to be elected to serve the residents of Wrightsville as Mayor,” Rainey said. “Together, we will develop a New Plan, New Vision, and New Direction for the City. I am most looking forward to bringing the community voices back to the table of change through three pillars: Education, Economic Development, and Engagement. The City of Wrightsville deserves this opportunity to provide a future and hope for our residents and generations to come.”
Rainey is the chief legacy officer of Seven Generations Living Legacy Collaborations and works as a small-business development office coordinator with the City of Little Rock’s finance department. He previously served as Academy Director for ScholarMade Achievement Place of Arkansas, a public charter school system in Little Rock.
In 2019, Rainey launched a children’s book series, “Nite-Nite Tales: The Adventures of Bubbles,” which presents timeless lessons through the eyes of a curious, intellectual, and talented African-American girl.
In addition to earning his Master of Public Service from the Clinton School, Rainey is a graduate of Morehouse College.
