Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Led by the work of three Clinton School students, Newport’s planned Delta Visual Arts Center will host a spring art event on Saturday, March 7.
Featuring 13 artists from throughout the Delta region, the event will include artist workshops, an art sale and a reception. The festivities will take place at the Iron Mountain Depot at 425 Front Street in downtown Newport from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CLICK HERE to view the event on Facebook, or email eafischer@clintonschool.uasys.edu for more information.
Clinton School students Emily Fischer, Joanna Klak and Todd Moore are working with the Delta Visual Arts Center as part of the school Practicum program, which sends students into the field to complete hands-on public service projects.
The Delta Visual Arts Center is a joint endeavor between the Newport Economic Development Commission, the Downtown Revitalization and Improvement Volunteer Effort, the Iron Mountain Regional Arts Council, and the City of Newport.
The purpose of the project is to create an innovative center that invites Delta artists to use studio space, sell their work, and teach workshops to the community. This engagement with artists will open the door to hosting a creative economy in Northeast, AR and be an addition to the revitalization of downtown.
