Students to Defend Capstones

A group of Clinton School students will defend their final Capstone projects today to a group of fellow students and faculty. The students are set to graduate on May 14. Here’s a list of those defending their projects:

9:00 a.m. – 9:35 a.m.
Student: Ryan Olson
Partner: Unitarian Universalist-United National Office (UU-UNO)
Description: Olson crafted a strategy for future advocacy efforts on behalf of UU-UNO and other faith based organizations trying to address the subject of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender human rights.

9:40 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
Student: Judy Watts
Partner: City of Little Rock Public Works
Description: Watts conducted best practice research primarily focused on examining single-stream recycling programs from around the country.

10:20 a.m. – 10:55 a.m.
Student: David Watterson
Partner: The Center for Music National Service (MNS)
Description: Watterson worked with MNS staff to develop a comprehensive pilot program plan for MusicianCorps Volunteers, which engages volunteers from diverse backgrounds and musical abilities in music-driven service activities.

11:00 a.m. – 11:35 a.m.
Student: David Monteith
Partner: Roots Of Empathy (ROE)
Description: Monteith researched options for ROE to become financially independent and, therefore, more sustainable. Roots Of Empathy is an evidence-based, elementary and middle-school emotional literacy program which has proven to reduce levels of aggression associated with bullying.

1:30 p.m. – 2:05 p.m.
Student: Mark Lienhart
Partner: Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau
Description: Lienhart conducted a needs assessment of River Market programming and events for the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau to expand community programming and attract a diverse audience to the River Market district.
