Students to Present Projects

As mentioned below, three Class of 2010 students will be making their final Capstone project presentations on Thursday in Classroom II at Sturgis Hall. The presentations are open to the public.

Here’s the schedule:

9:40 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.
Student: Joanna Klak
Project: Nonprofits in Arkansas Reaching Financial Sustainability
Partner: Clinton School Center on Community Philanthropy
Description: The goal of Klak’s project was to develop a strategy that will foster the collaboration between nonprofits and private donors to help community-based organizations leverage funds from the private sector. The project was divided into two parts – a research study and strategy development.

10:20 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.
Student: Ashley Davis
Project: Clinton Climate Initiative’s Arkansas Home Energy Affordability Loan (HEAL AR) Program
Partner: William J. Clinton Foundation
Description: HEAL AR aims to bring energy affordability to low-income Arkansans by offering an energy benefit through their employer. Davis worked on completing sections of the larger pilot program template that is being developed for scaling up and expanding HEAL AR. In addition, Davis wrote and submitted a $300,000 funding proposal to the Corporation for National and Community Service to obtain AmeriCorps funding for the second phase of the HEAL AR project.

11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Student: Viviane Rossi
Project: Analysis of the potential for networking, funding and partnership opportunities in Brazil
Partner: Bahia Street USA
Description: Bahia Street hopes to leverage its effort to promote social change in a larger scale and also obtain more funding from Brazilian private donors. Rossi researched some important aspects that define the nonprofit sector in Brazil and presented an assessment of the trends and potential opportunities available to Bahia Street.
