Women for Peace

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Israeli writer and peace activist Gila Svirsky, cofounder of the Coalition of Women for Peace, spoke Monday at the Clinton School about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Middle East Peace efforts.

Held in partnership with Arkansas Action for Peace and Just Communities of Central Arkansas, the program also featured a roundtable discussion of the issues Svirsky addressed.

Svirsky has been an activist with Women in Black, a women’s anti-war movement, since its inception in 1988 and is currently chair of B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories.

She has also written extensively on current events in the Middle East, giving special attention to the grassroots feminist peace movement in Israel and Palestine.

Video of Svirsky’s lecture will be posted soon at www.clintonschoolspeakers.com
