The Blair-Rockefeller Poll

The Diane D. Blair Center for Southern Politics and Society and the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Thursday announced initial findings in the Blair-Rockefeller Poll, a comprehensive online poll of Southern attitudes regarding politics and public policy.

Saying the poll will “change the way we view the South,” researches with poll said data gathered will reveal attitudes and trends regarding regional identification, religion, discrimination, the national Tea Party and public health care, among other issues.

Clinton School interim associate dean Dr. Todd Shields, director of the Blair Center, led a discussion about the poll and the roll of the South in national politics. As in the past Shields said, the South will likely determine the winner of the 2012 presidential election.

Along with Shields, participants in the study include Susan Dumas from the Rockefeller Institute, and Dr. Pearl Ford, Dr. Angie Maxwell and Dr. Rafael Jimeno, all from the Blair Center.

The poll was conducted in partnership with Knowledge Networks, a leading online research firm.
