Grad Barnett Lands Fellowship

Clinton School grad Lindsey Barnett (’10) has landed a one-year fellowship to help more needy people access the federal Food Stamp program.

Barnett will work with the Food Research and Action Center to conduct policy analysis, research, public education, outreach and advocacy to maximize participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Barnett’s final Clinton School project helped her land the fellowship. She worked with the Arkansas Department of Health conduct statewide outreach to seniors for the Arkansas SNAP program.

Here’s a description of Barnett’s responsibilities in her new fellowship:

Develop policy analysis and proposals, outreach approaches and advocacy strategies for maximizing SNAP/Food Stamps benefits for low-income people; provide technical assistance on SNAP/Food Stamps rules, operations and best practices, including to state-based anti-hunger groups and allies; analyze national, state and local SNAP/Food Stamps participation data; keep abreast of research on SNAP access and operations; research and write reports and policy briefs, as well as materials for FRAC’s website, e-newsletters and other communications for effective dissemination of information to FRAC’s network and the broader public.
