Flowers Sworn in as Pine Bluff Mayor

Vivian Flowers was recently sworn in as Mayor of the City of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Flowers, who graduated from the Clinton School of Public Service in 2007 as a member of the inaugural class, defeated John Fenley after beating incumbent Shirley Washington earlier this year.

Flowers previously served five terms in the Arkansas House of Representatives, representing District 65 which includes a portion of Jefferson County and Arkansas County.

For the 94th General Assembly, Rep. Flowers served on the House Education Committee and the House Insurance and Commerce Committee.

Flowers also served on the Joint Committee for Advanced Communications and Information Technology, the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee, the House Public Transportation Committee, and the House Agriculture, Forestry & Economic Development Committee, among others, during her time in the Arkansas House.

She was presented with the Distinguished Legislative Award by representatives of the Arkansas Municipal League, recognizing her exemplary service to benefit cities and towns of Arkansas during the 93rd General Assembly.

In addition to her Master of Public Service, she earned a degree in political science and professional and technical writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
