Boston Without the Globe?

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – The timing of the Clinton School Speaker Series can often be eerie. As the New York Times Company contemplates closing the Boston Globe, we just re-watched Globe editor Marty Baron’s February speech at the Clinton School. Baron discusses not only declining revenues and viability of newspapers, but also the sour reputation of the mainstream media in America today. He laments the predicament facing newspapers because of the inability to transition to the digital world. Baron worries about the state of democracy without newspapers, and now he’s facing the possibility of a Boston without the Globe. CLICK HERE to watch his lecture.

UPDATE: The Globe has received a reprieve, if only for a breif time: http://www.watoday.com.au/world/reprieve-for-boston-globe-20090505-atxz.html
