Posted by student JULIANNE DUNN – Members of the Class of 2010 spent Friday night at the War Memorial Stadium at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Little Rock’s Relay for Life was a 12-hour event with over 30 participating teams raising more than $33,000 towards cancer research.
The Clinton School team won the evening’s Best Team Spirit award by winning events such as Relay Idol, won by Regina Wilkerson and “Miss” Relay, won by Josh Stokes with Nique Hall coming in 2nd and Dimas Espinola in 4th. The team worked together to win the Ultimate Relay which was comprised of a series of group competitions.
Josh also represented in the ice cream sandwich eating contest (2nd place), and the balloon shaving contest (3rd place). Lindsey Barnett and Ali Turro both placed in the pajama pageant (2nd and 3rd place, respectfully). Emily Fischer and Olivia Wilmot both competed in the blindfolded PBJ contest and the hula hoop race.
I served as the Relay’s Logistic chair and Lisa Porterfield-Thompson served as the advocacy chair and we both helped organize the event. Special visitors of the night included Marie Lindquist, Todd and Jasmine Moore, Adam Penman, Chad, Bristol and Moxie Williamson, Sarah Clark and Kevin Taylor.
