The Political Brain

Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – A number of Arkansas politicos, including legislators and Lt. Gov. Bill Halter attended Thursday’s Clinton School lecture with Drew Westen, author of “The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation.” A professor of psychology and psychiatry at Emory University and a commentator on NPR and The Huffington Post, Westen discussed how politicians can capture the hearts and minds of voters through communication such as speeches, debates and advertising.

Since publishing his book, Westen has gone on to use his research and knowledge to advise political campaigns and candidates for public office. Video of his speech will be available for viewing later today at www.clintonschoolspeakers.com.
