The Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas will collect gift cards and checks for Brandon House Cultural & Performing Arts Center at the school’s Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 7. The ceremony will begin at noon in the Wally Allen Ballroom at the Statehouse Convention Center.
The collection will continue the school’s tradition of Giving at Graduation, which has been a part of the school’s commencement ceremony since 2010.
Founded in 2014, Brandon House Cultural & Performing Arts Center is a nonprofit organization that offers culturally-relevant, arts-based experiential learning, leadership opportunities in various creative and performing arts, as well as creative career and technical education. Brandon House transforms lives through the creative and performing arts.
At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization began sponsoring new programming entitled “Go Live: Creative Soul Sessions” to give Arkansas artists and musicians an opportunity to continue working during the crisis. What started as a COVID-19 resource turned into a weekly broadcast that gives music lovers and art advocates a taste of what Arkansas has to offer. Additionally, Brandon House distributed food to families. The organization held a “Rock the Block” resource drive-by to share school supplies, provide families with community resources, and showcase local musicians. The organization’s Dreamers program also welcomed an infectious disease doctor to help with education around COVID-19 testing and vaccines for communities of color.
Tax-deductible checks can be made payable to Brandon House Cultural & Performing Arts Center with “Giving at Graduation” in the memo line. They will be collected at graduation, or can be mailed to:
