In 2018, a team of Clinton School students partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas on an expansion study to identify local hospital needs, the capacity of Ronald McDonald House to help, and the next steps for the growth of its programs. Through their research, Ronald McDonald House was made aware of unmet needs at area hospitals, particularly at UAMS.
A partnership was formed that began with a meal delivery program and quickly expanded into a project to help in a larger way, by building a Ronald McDonald Family Room at UAMS.
In February 2020, Ronald McDonald House unveiled its new Family Room in the neonatal intensive care unit at UAMS – a 2,000-square-foot facility with four overnight suites and an open concept kitchen that includes a breakfast bar, coffee and snack station as well as daily meals. There is also a TV lounge, play area for siblings, laundry and shower facilities, and more.
The Family Room is the first of its kind in Central Arkansas and serves approximately 1,000 families each year.
The Clinton School Impact Minute is a recurring segment with Little Rock Public Radio, highlighting the Clinton School’s field service impact in Arkansas.
Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed more than 600 field service projects with nearly 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
