Experience the Beauty of Our Historic Campus within the Clinton Presidential Center and Little Rock’s River Market District
The Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas is located in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, with facilities on the grounds of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and in the heart of the city’s thriving River Market District.
You can learn more about the school’s Master of Public Service degree program, or Clinton School Online.
The Clinton School’s main campus is located at Sturgis Hall, formerly the historic Choctaw Station of the Rock Island Railroad in the Clinton Presidential Center. The Clinton Presidential Center also includes a museum with permanent and rotating exhibits, a museum store, the Presidential Library, 30 acres of public park, and an award-winning on-site restaurant. Sturgis Hall is nestled along the Arkansas River Trail with beautiful views and great walkability.
A generous grant from the Roy and Christine Sturgis Charitable and Educational Trust funded the renovation of the Choctaw Station. We partnered with Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects to redesign the historic space while maintaining the original components that made the building unique, adding two classrooms fitted with advanced audiovisual technology, a commons space, a student lounge area, a library reading room, administrative and faculty offices, and conference areas.
Several years after the original renovation, we undertook a significant sustainability assessment and greening effort to make our campus as sustainable and efficient as possible. Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects provided LEED consulting, and in 2014 we were awarded both LEED Gold EB and Two Green Globes certifications, making Sturgis Hall one of the oldest inhabited structures in the world to achieve these two ratings.
The River Market Campus is housed in the vibrant Arcade Building at 100 River Market Ave., a key resource just six blocks from the main campus. This facility, which includes the student learning center and the distance learning classroom, provides easy access to the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, a dedicated hub for Arkansas history and research.
Just a short walk from the city’s main public library and steps away from the new Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and an array of shops, restaurants, and night spots, the Clinton School provides a true urban campus for students and faculty. Near the intersection of major interstates I-30 and I-40 and only 10 minutes from Little Rock National Airport, the Clinton School is an accessible destination for visitors interested in learning more about public service.
