Application Deadline Approaching for 2013 Clinton School Enrollment

We are embarking on a most exciting of missions at a critical time in human — to help tomorrow’s leaders better understand the importance of citizen service, cooperation and globalism by participating in a program that provides real-world experiences with real-world outcomes.”

The deadline to apply the Clinton School Master of Public Service degree program this year is soon approaching. Applications for enrollment in the Fall 2013 Clinton School class must be postmarked by January 25, 2013.

As the first school in the nation to offer the MPS degree, the Clinton School provides a unique experience among American graduate schools. The school seeks students who are both eager to expand their academic experience and apply their knowledge to make a difference in the lives of others.

“We welcome applicants with a wide range of backgrounds and interests,” said Clinton School Dean Skip Rutherford. “Our students come from across the country and the world. The one thing they all have in common is that they are passionate about helping others and they want to learn how to put that passion into practice.”

While Clinton School students spend time in the classroom studying subjects such as leadership, ethics, communication and social change, 30 percent of the curriculum is for-credit field service projects.

During the two-year degree program, students complete three field service projects — a group Practicum project in Arkansas during the first year, an international public service project during the summer and a final Capstone project during the second year.

Clinton School students have completed international projects in 61 countries since the school opened in 2005. They’ve worked on efforts to improve health care, foster economic development, increase educational attainment, and fight hunger and poverty across the world through the school’s field service projects. Admission to the Clinton School is determined by several factors including academic background, graduate admissions test scores, public service experience, and personal vision for future public service contributions.

Tuition and fees for the program are affordable for students interested in service-oriented careers. Additionally, each applicant is considered for institutional scholarships during the admissions process.

Students who are interested may also pursue concurrent degree programs in Law with the UALR Bowen School of Law; in Public Health with the UAMS Boozman College of Public Health; or in Business Administration with the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Sam Walton College of Business.
