Application Deadline Approaching for 2014 Clinton School Enrollment

The deadline for applying to the Clinton School Master of Public Service (MPS) degree program is soon approaching. Applications for enrollment in the Fall 2014 Clinton School class must be postmarked by January 25, 2014.

As the first school in the nation to offer the MPS degree, the Clinton School provides a unique experience among American graduate schools. The school seeks students who are both eager to expand their academic experience and apply their knowledge to make a difference in the lives of others in the field.

“We welcome applicants with a wide range of backgrounds and interests,” said Clinton School Dean Skip Rutherford. “Our students come from across the country and the world, but they all have one thing in common: they are committed to helping others and they want to learn how to put commitment into practice.”

While Clinton School students spend time in the classroom studying subjects such as communications, field research, program planning and development, and social change, a significant portion of the curriculum is for-credit field service projects.

During the two-year degree program, students complete three field service projects — a team-based project in Arkansas during the first year, an international public service project during the summer, and a final individual project during the second year.

Clinton School students have completed international projects in 68 countries since the school opened in 2005. They’ve worked on efforts to improve health care, foster economic development, increase educational attainment, and fight hunger and poverty across the world.

Admission to the Clinton School is determined by several factors including academic background, graduate admissions test scores, public service experience, and personal vision for future public service.

Students may also pursue concurrent degree programs in Law with the UALR Bowen School of Law; in Public Health with the UAMS Boozman College of Public Health; or in Business Administration with the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Walton College of Business.
