Clinton School graduates Maggie Benson (’14) and Nate Looney (’12) will chair the initial Public Service Academy, presented by the Arkansas Bar Association and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.
Applications for the Public Service Academy are due September 3 and can be found here. There will be a $100 fee for those selected. Scholarships are available upon request.
“It is exciting to work with the Arkansas Bar, the Clinton School, and my longtime friend Nate Looney on the Public Service Academy,” Benson said. “We are so appreciative of the talented folks who will serve as speakers and look forward to a successful inaugural program.”
The Service Academy is for member lawyers, law students, and those interested in public service, including on school boards and city councils, with volunteer organizations or in the legislative, judicial, or executive branch.
Benson and Looney will also serve on the steering committee made up of former Chief Justice Howard Brill, the Vincent Foster Professor of Legal Ethics & Professional Responsibility at the UA School of Law; Circuit Judge Earnest Brown; and House Speaker Matthew Shepherd.
The Public Service Academy will be limited to about 25 diverse, statewide participants including law students. Those selected will participate in two sessions – one in Little Rock on Nov. 15-16, 2019 and one in Fayetteville on Jan. 17-18, 2020.
