Clinton School professor Dr. Al Bavon is in Ghana this week working on a project with Vital Voices Global Partnership, a non-government organization dedicated to empowering women as social entrepreneurs.
In partnership with colleagues from the University of Arkansas Walton College of Business and the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, Bavon will spend 10 days in Ghana working on an initiative to develop and grow small business run by women.
The partnership was established through the efforts of former White House chief of staff Mack McLarty and his wife Donna, a member of the board of Vital Voices.
Former Clinton School interim associate dean Todd Shields, now dean of the graduate school at the UA, also played a key role in launching the project.
Bavon is a professor of public administration at the Clinton School, where he teaches courses in decision analysis, program development and evaluation. He focuses his research on program development and public service.
