A former law clerk for Arnold on the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Price traces his life, career and political transformation from an elite Southerner with deep misgivings about Brown v. Board of Education to a modern champion of civil rights, particularly in his handling of Little Rock school desegregation cases.
The book examines desegregation and other pressing federal court issues in the closing decades of the twentieth century, including the death penalty, abortion, free speech and voting rights.
