Bow Tie Inspired by Clinton School Professor Makes National TV

Bow Tie Cause, a nonprofit founded by NFL linebacker Dhani Jones with the help of Clinton School graduate Chad Williamson, has partnered with Fox Sports Major League Baseball announcer Ken Rosenthal, who will wear specially designed bow ties during broadcasts to raise awareness for certain causes.

One of the bow ties that will be worn by Rosenthal will promote the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation. The design of the bow tie (pictured to the right) was inspired by Clinton School professor and UALR Bowen Law School dean John DiPippa, a prostate cancer survivor. The story of the bow tie, which Rosenthal wore during last night’s Yankees-Devil Rays game, is discussed on the Fox Sports website:

What it means: The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation bow tie was inspired by John DiPippa, a professor at the Clinton School of Public Service and dean of the Bowen School of Law. DiPippa was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2008. Determined to survive, he underwent surgery in March 2009 to remove his prostate. An avid cyclist, he participated in a 120-mile bike ride just two months after his surgery. Dean DiPippa is an advocate and board member for APCF. The design utilizes the colors of APCF and represents men connected and standing together in the fight against prostate cancer.
