Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Jean Picker Firstenberg, president emerita of the American Film Institute spoke yesterday at the Clinton School in a lecture entitled, “Are Artists Public Servants Too?” A number of Little Rock’s growing film community turned out to hear her speak. Most people know AFI for its top 100 films list, which is topped by Citizen Kane; however, Firstenberg led the organization to a number of accomplishments, ranging from the AFI Conservatory being accredited, to the opening of the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, a state–of–the–art center for the moving image arts in Silver Springs, Md.
