UALR Chancellor Joel Anderson, who served this week as a scholar in residence at the Center on Community Philanthropy, outlined plans today for an Institute on Race and Ethnicity at UALR.
Speaking as part of the Clinton School Speaker Series, Anderson said the university is determined to create a fresh agenda on the subject of race and ethnicity in the community.
The Little Rock community “is ready for a new conversation on the subject,” he said.
The university has conducted surveys on racial attitudes in the Little Rock area and formed a committee on race and ethnicity to facilitate the launch of the institute.

The “Scholars in Residence” brings in researchers, practitioners and senior executives who have demonstrated exemplary contributions in the field of community philanthropy.
Anderson spent the week at the Clinton School studying the issue of race and ethnicity. He also held a session on the subject with Clinton School students.
