Posted by BEN BEAUMONT – Clinton School student Nicholas Hall is hosting a fundraiser to purchase five solar powered stoves for impoverished families in Bolivia, where he will spend his summer delivering the stoves and teaching new owners how to use them for his International Public Service Project. Here’s more about the event:
Little Rock Climbing Center has graciously donated their facilities and instructors for “Climb it for Climate,” a one-night fundraiser where participants get a day pass, gear rental, and belay lessons all for $12, a $12 savings. Proceeds will go towards purchasing solar powered stoves for poor villages in Bolivia. Villagers spend five hours a day searching for fuel for their cooking stoves that contribute to deforestation and CO2 pollution. One solar powered stove eliminates 2 tons of CO2 pollution a year.
When: Thursday, April 30, 2009
7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Where: Little Rock Climbing Center
12120 Colonel Glenn Rd
