Clinton School Impact Minute: HEAL AR

Lowering energy costs while creating healthier homes, that was the mission behind HEAL Arkansas, a program that Ashley Matejka helped grow during her time at the Clinton School of Public Service.

As part of her final Capstone project, Matejka partnered with the HEAL Arkansas team to support low- and moderate-income Arkansans. She wrote and submitted a $300,000 funding proposal to the Corporation for National and Community Service and helped build out a scalable program model for employers to bring energy-saving resources to their workers.

The result: Arkansas workers gained access to home energy audits, rebates, and efficiency upgrades, leading to lower monthly bills and healthier living conditions. Participating companies saved thousands of dollars each year – and employees felt the impact where it matters most: at home.

Thanks to Ashley Matejka’s leadership and vision, HEAL Arkansas was able to reach more families, decrease energy costs, and create a more sustainable Arkansas.

The Clinton School Impact Minute is a recurring segment with Little Rock Public Radio, highlighting the Clinton School’s field service impact.

Since 2004, Clinton School students have completed nearly 700 field service projects with more than 300 organizations in Arkansas alone, creating immediate and long-term impact for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies across the state.
